Your starting point

Private Assessment & Care Planning

You do not need to choose a diagnosis, a clinician or a treatment package before asking for help. We begin by understanding you, then agree on the next step together.

Your care, at a glance

A way forward, together.

There is no single path that suits everyone. We take time to understand you, then help you choose support that feels clear, considered and right for your needs.

First, we take time to understand you

Your assessment is a space to talk about what has been difficult, what matters to you and what you hope will change. We listen, explore the options and agree a next step together.

Time with the right professional

Space to talk, work through difficulties and build on what helps, with a psychiatrist, psychologist or psychotherapist suited to your needs.

More support, still part of everyday life

When you need more than a regular appointment, a closer rhythm of sessions and a connected team may help. We talk through what that could look like for you.

Help finding a better fit

Sometimes another service can better meet your needs. We will explain the options with care and help you understand the next step, rather than leave you to work it out alone.

You do not have to navigate care alone.
When it helps, we can support your family and keep the people involved in your care connected, from the first steps onwards.

Worried about someone who is not ready to seek help? Our Interventions service can help you prepare a thoughtful conversation and consider the next step.

An assessment, not a predetermined package

Every new VAYEMA care relationship starts with a clinical assessment. You may be seeking help for the first time, looking for a second opinion or reconsidering care that no longer feels right. You may already know what is difficult, or simply recognize that something has changed. The first appointment gives those questions a structured place to begin.

The assessment is matched to the concern and carried out by an appropriately qualified professional. It does not mean that everyone needs the same tests, the same number of specialists or a psychiatric consultation. Where further medical or specialist input is appropriate, we explain why and what it would involve.

What we take time to understand

The conversation considers your current concerns, how long they have been present, their impact on everyday life and what you hope will change. Previous treatment, physical health, medication, sleep, nutrition, substance use, relationships and practical responsibilities can all be relevant. We also discuss safety and the support around you.

You do not need to arrive with a polished account of your history. Brief notes about changes, existing care and questions can help. Relevant records can be considered with your permission, reducing unnecessary repetition and supporting communication with professionals already involved.

A recommendation you can understand

We discuss the findings in clear language, including any uncertainty and whether further assessment is needed. Your care recommendation explains the proposed approach, the professionals involved, the format and frequency of appointments, an initial review point and the expected costs. Alternatives and the option of another provider are part of that discussion.

The outcome may be individual treatment, a coordinated intensive outpatient program, ongoing support with an existing team, or a different level of care. An assessment does not create an obligation to purchase a program.

When a family makes the first approach

A family can seek guidance even when the person they are concerned about is not ready to engage. In that situation, the assessment concerns the family’s own support needs, options and boundaries. It is not a diagnosis of an absent relative. We clarify who the service is for and what information may be shared.

Where your assessment and sessions take place

Appointments can be arranged online, at the therapist’s consulting rooms or a VAYEMA location, or at your home on request. We agree the setting after considering your needs, the professional’s availability and where you will be for the appointment. Some assessments or interventions require in-person care. Home visits are arranged on demand, with any travel costs explained before booking.

Before booking

You can ask about locations, treatment languages, appointment formats and fees before a clinical assessment. The team confirms the appropriate professional and practical arrangements before a booking is made. An administrative inquiry is not itself a clinical consultation.

VAYEMA is not an emergency service. Immediate safety concerns, severe withdrawal or urgent medical symptoms should be directed to local emergency services rather than waiting for a routine assessment.

Start with a private assessment.

We first understand what is happening, then discuss the professionals and level of support that may fit.
